Short .ai domains worth checking

Short .ai is in the state short .io was a few years ago: the obvious names are gone, and the rest is going. Two- and three-letter .ai disappeared early, and most short real words are either registered or parked as premium names with prices that belong on a car. What's still gettable is coined, the four- and five-letter inventions that read like a brand without being a word someone owned first.

Before you fall for a short .ai

Two things about .ai change the math. It's expensive, among the priciest mainstream extensions and several times the cost of a .com. And you can't buy it for one year; the registry sets a two-year minimum, and renewals come in two-year blocks.

So when you find a short .ai you love, price the two-year total, not the number a registrar puts in big font. If the name is for a weekend project, that cost may not be worth it. If it's for a company you mean to keep, it probably is.

Short, but still sayable

There's a failure mode with short coined names: you compress so hard the result can't be spoken. 'Vxqz' is short and probably available and useless. The names on this list keep a vowel where your mouth needs one, so they survive a phone call and a podcast mention. Short is a means to memorable, not the goal on its own. If you can't say it cleanly the first time, it isn't really short; it's just brief.
